My absolute favorite wordless picture book! The images are very detailed, very interesting, inspire imagination, tell a story better than words could ever have... the list goes on and on. This book tells the story of a boy who finds a camera on the beach and develops the film in it, and of the astonishing pictures that he discovers. The cycle is continued in the end when the boy makes the decision not to disrupt it... I would definitely use this book with my students. It would especially be great with relucant readers in order to get them interested in reading books and to show them different genres.
Wordless books are also great to use with reluctant writers. Give the child sticky-notes and ask the child to write text for each page of the book. They can use as many or as little sticky-notes for each page as they want. This way the writer doesn't have to worry about coming up with ideas!
