Hello, Bumblebee Bat

Hello, Bumblebee Bat

by Darrin Lunde

I would classify this book as a "side-by-side" or "read with me" book: each page has a simple sentence in large text that I'm sure is meant for the child to read and smaller, longer, more complicated sentences for an adult to read. So, in the form of question and answer, child and adult can take turns reading together. It is also very informational. There are tons of facts about the bumblebee bat throughout, and at the end of the book ,there is a page devoted to more information about this species. I would use this book with a child with a strong interest in learning new things or in animals/nature as it can jump start discussions and learning.

(Images are glossy and pretty, but I am a little disturbed by an illustration of a bat biting the head off a moth!)
