I tested this one out with my cousins, ages 3 (Hoffman) and 5 (Halden). They really liked it! Illustrations in this book are detailed and colorful. There are tons of things to look at and point out as you read with children (definitely a good lap-book). It seems as if every animal you can think of is somewhere in this book... Halden spent most of the time pointing out all the elephants! Text is bold and stands out from the illustrations superbly, has a rhyming quality, and contains repetition and patterns in sentences, all of which would make me comfortable using this book with beginning or struggling readers. All-in-all, a quality book.

One thing I do not understand, however... After having spent the entire book following dirty moose tracks all over the house, we learn that the animal who lives there is in fact a moose himself. But the last line of the book says, "and I don't make a mess!" Am I the only one a little confused here?
