Arthur's Good Manners

Arthur's Good Manners
a Little Golden Book
By Stephanie Calmenson
another alligator book! I just must be drawn to a really good illustration of an alligator. The pictures in this book are so cute--there is so much to look at. It also is a good lesson book for children to learn more about using good manners and why it is important to do so. The author manages to sneak in some really good tips for parents or guardians about encouraging kids to use their manners (ie have the child make flash cards). Because of its feel-good mood, songs, and potential for the use of many voices, this book is a good book to read together with children.
I am also very interested by the book's not-so-obvious inclusion of a single mom and the conversations that could be had about this.
